Perhaps Malik Dia should study David West’s game. West had an All-Star career in the NBA with a similar-looking mid-range jump shot and jab step when facing up. Both are 6’9”, 250 lbs. West—of course—is a high bar for most NBA players to compare to, and he was a great passer (and more) as well.

But Dia and West’s play styles are similar. Dia earned a two-way contract with the Pelicans after Summer League and will soon begin his rookie season. He shot 43% on short jump shots and 42% on mid-range jump shots last season at Ole Miss. West was a master of sorts at these shots during his NBA career. Clips of Dia intertwined with West are below.
